Our Vision and Values

DG Hand has worked hard to achieve recognition as a premier builder of exceptional construction, and continually strives to meet the higher expectations of today’s home and property owner. Our goal is to streamline the process of bringing our clients’ visions to fruition and do so by coordinating the entire construction project, from initial plans to finishing interior touches. DG Hand works with select architects, engineers and other subcontractors to provide our customers with a comprehensive building resource.

The foundation of our success is a combination of a well-managed professional company, teamed with the quality of the experienced craftsmen who build our fine homes and commercial buildings. After all, the two most important places in a person’s life are their home and their office. Therefore, we believe the building itself should surround you with the things that make life beautiful, such as: natural light that takes advantage of the sunny Northern Nevada climate, environmentally aware building process, distinctive architectural

elements inside and out, and ultimately, a place you can feel proud about.

History and evolution of D.G. Hand Construction

In 1978, Don Hand, a Southern California-based builder, created his vision: to build a quality product for a reasonable price. Don had spent a number of years working for other builders and through that experience learned the importance of using quality materials and listening to clients. He became especially sensitive to the fact that the difference between a good building experience and a poor one hinged on communication and making it a priority to listen to clients, and then listen some more. He decided to take this philosophy to the growing Northern Nevada market and founded the construction firm of DG Hand Construction Company.

Today, DG Hand continues to operate by the motto—listen to the customer and always give them what they want. Family owned and operated, DG Hand’s principals share similar values and have instilled their vision for delivering an unwavering commitment to quality, client satisfaction and integrity on all employees of the company. DG Hand prides itself on being honest, dedicated professionals with integrity and that their buildings, which are well built with only the best materials, exhibit long-standing integrity as well.

DG Hand is a proud and active member of the Builders Association of Western Nevada (BAWN), Builders Association of Northern Nevada (BANN), Better Business Bureau, Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. The company holds business licenses in Carson City, Douglas County, Washoe County, Lyon County and Storey County as well as the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. As testament to our customer-centric business model, we have received the Gold Star award numerous consecutive years for being complaint free by the Better Business Bureau.

DG Hand’s old-fashioned work ethic and attention to customer service is shared by every employee of the company. Founded nearly two decades ago by Don Hand, the company has remained under the Hand family operation ever since. In addition to the Hand family members involved in the business, DG Hand is a proud employer of dedicated framers, carpenters, project managers and administrative staff—many of whom have been with the company for over a decade. For plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, excavation and concrete services, DG Hand works with a select few locally-based, highly reliable sub contractors that are all fully licensed, bonded and insured.

Don Hand
As the founder of DG Hand, Don continues to be involved in the business and ensures all employees and subcontractors are adhering to the grass-root belief of 100% integrity when working with clients. Don got his start in construction in New Jersey and later moved to California where the vision for DG Hand was born. He holds a contractors license and is excited his son Logan is involved in the family business.

Logan Hand
Logan has essentially been involved with the family business since he was a child. He is following in his father, Don’s, footsteps and has made his career in construction. Logan makes it a priority to keep up on all the latest trends and technology in the industry so he can help clients make informed decisions and integrate the most modern elements in their custom home or commercial building. Since his graduation from high school, Logan has worked at DG Hand and today, oversees company operations and fulfills the role of project manager for many clients. Logan holds a contractors license.

Brandon Thompson
For over 10 years, Brandon has been involved in the insurance industry in California and Nevada. He brings this expertise to DG Hand’s clients who have suffered some sort of structural damage to their property. Brandon works closely with insurance companies and property owners to inform them of the repair work status and makes it a point to finish restoration work as quickly as possible. During his time at DG Hand, Brandon, who holds a contractors license, has overseen everything from major insurance repairs for million dollar homes in Lake Tahoe to smaller damage sustained on commercial properties.
